Demo Guidelines
A demo is a presentation of your project and your ideas.
Your main goal might be to get useful feedback,
or to convince your audience of your idea and the viability of your
project.
PRESENTER:
- start by telling the class the area where you
most want feedback, asking for their opinions on a specific question
for example, "i'm not sure if people can read the text against
the background, " "i'm looking for different ideas for a logo,"
etc.
- There should be links within each page, some
kind of navigation so you can click to every part of your website
within Netscape or Explorer.
- Try to keep it running smoothly, don't dwell
on what didn't work, or apologize for what isn't there yet.
- describe any changes/additions you want to make,
for example, "this logo will be animated coming over the
screen from the left side", "I'm thinking of adding a bio page for
each artist, etc.
- Keep notes of your colleagues' feedback as well
as anything you notice you want to change while presenting. However
DON't start to fix or change anything during the demo!
AUDIENCE:
- Never work on your own projects, talk, read etc.
during someone's presentation. A few minutes of your attention can
give alot of new ideas to someone's project.
- Don't tell the presenter what their site should
be, if you think something should be different, make a case for why
you think so.
- Critiquing a work in progress means trying to
see where it's going as much as where it is!
